Biofuel

Biofuels are derived from biological material such as crops, wood or landfill gas. The increased cost of traditional fuels and uncertainty over their supply has prompted greater use of biofuels for power generation.

Coming from a wide range of biological sources, biofuels have varying energy content, which often makes it more difficult to operate the combustion process in an efficient and safe way.

Achieving the required air-to-fuel ratio is challenging, as this is constantly affected by changes in loading conditions, fuel composition, fuel particle size and caloric content. Fast, accurate gas monitoring is required.

We provide proven solutions for monitoring combustion gases in biofuel power generation processes, using trusted measurement technologies. We offer a variety of designs to deliver reliable performance, even in challenging and high-particulate conditions.

    Combustion control

The key to combustion efficiency is to find the optimum ratio between air and fuel in the combustion reaction. This requires, at the minimum, accurate monitoring of oxygen, and also benefits from additional measurements: combustibles (for process optimization) and methane/hydrocarbon (for safety).
