Kilns

Lime kilns are used as part of the recovery process. Calcium carbonate precipitate from the white liquor is heated in the kiln to create calcium oxide, used to regenerate the calcium hydroxide. Combustion control in the kiln is important to process efficiency, safety and emissions control.

The conversion reaction that produces calcium oxide requires a high temperature in the kiln. This heat is generated by combustion, which must be controlled for safety, efficiency, and emissions control.

Kilns use combustion to achieve high temperatures for the calcination process.  The effective control of combustion increases burner output while also reducing fuel costs and emissions.

We provide proven solutions for monitoring combustion gases in kilns, using trusted measurement technologies and specialized designs to deliver reliable performance, even in challenging and high-particulate conditions.

    Combustion control

The key to combustion efficiency is to find the optimum ratio between air and fuel in the combustion reaction. This requires, at the minimum, accurate monitoring of oxygen, and also benefits from additional measurements: combustibles (for process optimization) and methane/hydrocarbon (for safety).
