AMETEK Process Instruments offers a diverse range of moisture analyzers to meet the needs of your process. But how do these instruments differ?
ATEX Zone 1 and Class 1, Division 1, Groups B, C, D, T6-certified QCM Models
Models: 3050-SLR, 3050-TE, 3050-OLV, 5000
These instruments vary in features such as calibration range, sensitivity, accuracy, stream-switching capability, and application-suitability.
The 3050-TE and the 3050-SLR are both calibrated with a range of 0-100 ppmv, however, the 3050-TE offers better accuracy and sensitivity than the 3050-SLR. Regarding application, the 3050-TE is designed to analyze moisture in natural gas feeding turboexpanders and other cryogenic processes, while the 3050-SLR is designed to analyze moisture in petrochemical processes.
The 3050-OLV is calibrated with a range of 0-2500 ppmv. This instrument is suitable for indoor or outdoor installation and can accurately measure high moisture concentrations in your process. The 3050-OLV is used in petrochemical, natural gas, refinery, and chemical applications.
The 5000 is calibrated with a range of 0-1000 ppmv. This instrument is special in that it can be manufactured with Kalrez® seals. These seals enable the instrument to measure moisture in processes that have more corrosive gases. Another distinctive feature of the 5000 is its ability to do stream-switching for up to 4 streams. This is our only standard product that can perform stream-switching. The 5000 is used in petrochemical, natural gas, refinery, and chemical applications.
Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, T4-certified Models
Models: 3050-AM, 3050-AMS, 3050-DO, 3050-OLV, 3050-RM, 2850, 5800, 5812, 5830, 5910 UHP, 5920 UHP
In the calibration range of 0-100 ppmv, we offer the 3050-AM, 3050-AMS, 3050-DO, 5800, and 5830. The 3050-DO is our only offering for this hazardous area location that is incorporated into a non-metallic and corrosion-resistant enclosure, suitable for outdoor installation. The primary use of the 3050-DO is measuring moisture of dryer outlets in natural gas applications. The 3050-AM, 3050-AMS, 5800, and 5830 are designed for benchtop or rackmount installation. These models differ from each other in accuracy and sensitivity. Applications of these models include the manufacturing of semiconductors and industrial gases.
In the calibration range of 0-2500 ppmv, we offer the 3050-OLV and 3050-RM. These instruments offer near-identical features but differ in that the OLV is suitable for indoor or outdoor installation, while the 3050-RM is only suitable for benchtop or rack-mounted installation. Applications of the 3050-RM include air separation and cylinder filling.
Also suitable for benchtop or rackmount installation are the 2850, 5812, 5910 UHP, and 5920 UHP. The 2850 and 5812 are calibrated with a range of 0-1000 ppmv, but differ in accuracy and sensitivity. The 2850 is designed for moisture analysis in air separation and petrochemicals, while the 5812 is designed for moisture analysis in natural gas. The 5910 UHP and 5920 UHP are calibrated with a range of 0-150 ppbv. These are the most sensitive and accurate instruments AMETEK Process Instruments offers, and they differ from each other in accuracy and sensitivity. Both instruments serve the same key markets and have applications in the manufacturing of semiconductors, LCD/OLED displays, and air separation.
Making a Decision
Finding the best analytical instrument for your process is extremely important. To know which instrument is best for your application, top consideration should be given to hazardous area location, measurement range, accuracy requirements, and stream composition.
